Western companies and Japanese companies seem to operate at two different extremes. Japanese companies tend to be extremely conservative in their structure and business practices. That may lead to a long-sustained business, but without much innovation or massive profit.
Western companies are focused on an unattainable growth rate that demands expensive acquisitions and record profits every quarter until the company burns itself out and collapses into itself. You either become an Apple or Google, or you become a once valuable asset to be bought by the next company trying to be Apple or Google.

Well capcom is currently reaping the rewards for theyr "anything new is bad" policy. Turning resident evil into gears of war, while pumping ridicoulus amounts of money on those games, and fucking costumers over with theyr dlc practises among other kinda shitty stuff, I would be very sad if this crisis brought them down but as they say "you reap what you sow".
Edit: mrnarse what´s really funny is that capcom kinda did the worst of both.

I have a very tangential relationship with Capcom. Mostly Megaman X titles. I absolutely loved Okami though.
I really only just finished Super Mario 3D World (Finished being I finally gave up on one of the bonus worlds and moved on). Been playing some of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, but I might just switch over to Pikmin 3, since despite the very fun, challenging level design of DKC, I don't particularly feel too much like I need to get everything. It'll either be Pikmin 3 or just more TF2 basically.

... There is a Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze? Also, TF2 is awesome. I've been getting cravings recently, but my gaming computer is back in Australia... Tropical freeze is fucking awesome, I sometimes start it just to hear the music on certain stages... so good.

I really, really, REALLY loved the music of Rare back in its golden age, before the original creators jumped ship. I have the soundtracks for the Donkey Kong Country trilogy and I adore the music from Banjo-Kazooie as well. I hear with the latest DKC games they're going down the nostalgia route, so I imagine the music will be of a similar vein. <3

So great, especially this level:

No, I haven't! And there's no video under the colon you wrote, so now I'm in suspense as to what the music could be! T__T

It looks like Clicker Heroes has a permanent tab in my browser now, right next to the game of Cookie Clicker that I've had going for the last year and a half.

Do you have some sort of an auto-clicking implement? Speaking of browser games, check out Gridland - it's a match-3/survival game with day and night cycle (that description makes more sense after you play it.) And it's quite neat aesthetics-wise.

Tryed out Infinity wars yesterday, it´s a ftp TCG and pretty damn interresting. The unique twist is that you and your enemy both make theyr turn at the same time without knowing what the other is doing, this leads to some intense mindgames situations. Anyone whose into online card games and kinda bored of hearthstone (like me) should give it a try.

I'm kinda bored of Hearthstone, gonna check it out, thanks. The twist seems interesting.

Speaking of browser games, check out Gridland - it's a match-3/survival game with day and night cycle (that description makes more sense after you play it.) And it's quite neat aesthetics-wise. These browser Clicker gamaes make you click a lot at the beginning of the game, but right away you can unlock upgrades that click for you and do damage/gain points. So it's not something that you have to pay attention to all day and click your brains out. You can just ignore it in your browser all day and advance. It's the most pointless thing in the world, but it's addicting and at least it's free without any microtransactions. I'm waiting for an iPhone 6 Plus to come in the mail sometime this month. Anyone got any good iOS game recommendations? I've played some really great games on there in the past (Sword and Poker, Puzzle Quest, Tilt to Live, Super Hexagon), and was wondering if there's been anything from the last few years that has stood out on the platform. Just for the record, Virtual d-pads and buttons on a touchscreen are the worst things in the world, and I hope they never, ever replace physical buttons for the majority of games

Ya know what? I've got in on my PC, but never got around to playing it! How is it on the touch screen?

It was made for touch screen, and there are clever things like when you flip the device vertically to go into the combat mode. I've played on my tablet, even though I have a PC version. It's not the kind of game that's good for playing while commuting or something noisy like that, probably (like Super Hexagon which is WAAAAGH WHY IS IT SO HARD.)
I've also remembered two decent games from one of the recent Humble Bundles, they are both iOS and Android: Eliss Infinity and Duet (by Kumobius.)

If you like interesting uses of narrative, I'd recommend Device 6. For something that kinda feels like Sword & Sworcery to me, at least with exploration and aesthetic (not pixel but simplified) I'd recommend Monument Valley.

Has anyone played Stick it to the Man? It kinda gives me a Psychonauts vibe, but I hesitate to make the purchase for some reason.

Oh, thanks, I'm so getting Monument Valley now (Device 6 looks interesting, but don't have an iOS, erm, device.)

Thanks for all the iOS recommendations! I'm gonna check em out once my new phone ships.
I'm embarrassed to say it, but I downloaded WWE Supercard onto my iPhone 4 yesterday and I'm addicted to it like a crack addict.
It's a pretty simple free-to-play card battle game with easy to follow rules. You battle the CPU controlled decks of other user's cards and collect 1 or 2 new cards after every battle, and then you can either put them in your starting deck or use them to level up other cards. You can be in and out of a battle in a minute, so it's almost instant gratification. Something so simple shouldn't be so addictive.

Banner Saga is out on iOS! It's quite a brilliant game with meaningful choices, interesting turn-based combat, and it looks and sounds quite gorgeous, too! (I know I sound too excited, but I had a blast with that game when I got it on PC.)

The Banner Saga is definitely on my list, though I'd probably go PC as my tablet fills up pretty quickly and I have a way more space on my hard drive on my laptop.

Anyone else play P.T. demo? It was some good horror! The only issue I had with it was that you 100% have to look up a walkthrough to be able to beat it.

First time I hear of it! I don't usually follow horror games, though, think the last big one I've played was Silent Hill: Shattered Memories on PSP. Looking forward to The Forest and new Alien game, though.

Well, if you didn't know already, P.T. is just a stealth teaser/demo thing for the upcoming Silent Hills game. With Kojima being involved (and Guillermo del Toro), of course he has to make a whole secret thing out of it and pretend it's another game.

I didn't (and now I have to admit I was too lazy to google). Now I'm thinking this one's might be way too scary for me - I was scared by OceanRift demo for Oculus Rift!

I'm really jumpy with games too. The zombie add-on in Borderlands terrified me, if that's any indication. Love to watch others play them, though!
